Oh lord, was that my heart?
Scott was engaged recently. I felt better, knowing he was with someone he loved. I told Jason and he practically cheered(he never liked him, and thought we were crushing on each other in high school).
Last week, his status changed to single. His status message said he was trying to get over her. She had left him for someone named Jason. My Jason found that oddly hilarious, that Scott had been thwarted by two Jason's for girls he liked. I reminded him that Scott hadn't like me, nor I him. I also told him I was disgusted at his apparent joy in Scott's misery.
I had been friends with Scott once, though it wasn't a close friendship, and I felt terrible that the girl had done that to him. But we weren't close, or even talking. We were just facebook friends, so how could I express my sympathy? Certainly not by commenting on his status message.
I ended up typing him a private message reading: "I just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear about your breakup. I didn't feel right leaving a comment on your status since we don't talk anymore, and i didn't know her. I'm sure I don't top your friends list, but if you ever want to talk I'd be happy to. Hope you feel better soon."
I couldn't think of what else to type.
He messaged me back nad said thanks, that that made him feel better, adn that he appreciated it.
But we still haven't spoken....
Do I reach out again, or leave it alone since we aren't close?
I want to reach out

A month!
A month! A month I have been away. I wish I had an excuse, but I've just been sick and trying to struggle through it for school.
I started reading Richard Laymon's The Cellar tonight, and I got to page 41 and can't read more. I'd like to, but after page 41 is page 49. It's skipped the in-between. It happens a few more times throughout the book, so I'm returning it to the library soon, and mentioning it to the librarian.
NaNoWriMo is so close now! I can taste it! Is anyone else participating? This will be my second official year and I've got a story in mind. I'm itching for it to be October 31st!! Halloween and then NaNoWriMo kick-off!!

One Word.... Mercury
"It's still rising"
"How? It's already 110 degrees out here!"
"I would think it's getting hotter and the mercury is rising as a result."
"Haha. It was a rhetorical question."
"It's not going to matter if it was or not when we're dead." Slowly she sat back and looked out the window. "Do you think we will be unconscious before it starts melting?"
Jack tilted his head to take in the view she was seeing, "Of course. This ship was built to withstand up to 1,000 degrees. We'd be fine if the fuel hadn't run out." He fell silent as they continued to watch to the sun they were slowly approaching.

One Word.... Paintbrush
Slowly, he placed the paint brush on the counter. It dripped blue onto the floor as he stared at his canvas. It rolled as he carefully picked up his masterpiece and moved it to his drying table. The paintbrush fell on the floor as he capped his paints. It was kicked under the desk as he walked to the sink to wash his hands.
The paintbrush collected dust as he became famous from the painting.

One Word.... Paperback
Carefully she lined the paperbacks on the shelf. When she came across a bent or torn one she set it aside. Carefully she laid out the bent copies, smoothing them as flat as she could. Hefting a heavy encyclopedia, she set it carefully atop the paperbacks to fix the bends. The torn paperbacks were analyzed, and the ones that were unfix-able went into the meticulously sorted recycling. She carefully mended the remaining books and shelved them.
